IKEA's Sustainability Commitment for 2030
Last week I looked at IKEA's Sustainability Summary Report on the GRI Disclosure Database and learned more in detail about how their business is set up to support sustainable living. I did more research on the company to see if there were any new updates related to their sustainable mission and I found an article that talked about their commitment to being "people and planet positive by 2030"
- A few of their proposed goals are: using only renewed or recycled materials in their products, removing all one-time only use plastics, increasing plant-based option on their menu, reducing their climate footprint by 70%, zero emission deliveries by 2025 and expanding their affordable home solar solutions.
- The biggest opportunity for reducing the IKEA greenhouse gas footprint comes in raw materials and the life of products in the homes of IKEA customers.
- They want to be able to provide easy solutions for their customers to save water through designing innovative products
- They also want to see a decrease in the total footprint of their suppliers to inspire others in the industry to do the same and set this as a standard
